Description
Christmas carols are found all over the world, and few song forms encompass such a diverse range of musical genres. What they share is the feeling of anticipation, memories of childhood days, and hope for peace. Peter Vogel arranges songs from around the world anew for his ensemble. Old songs gain new groove, become contemplative ballads, or enjoy their freedom in fresh harmonies.
Peter Vogel already explored jazz and avant-garde during his classical training. In his compositions, he combines elements of both musical languages, as in the 2021 premiere of "Concerto in Jazz" for piano and orchestra.
Alexandrina Simeon deepened her studies in jazz after a classical vocal training. She has performed at renowned international jazz festivals with various formations.
Christian Maurer is a professor of classical saxophone at the Vienna University of Music and has performed with the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras. He has toured the world with jazz musicians like Kenny Wheeler, Natalie Cole, and Raul da Souza.
Ralf Franz is one of the most sought-after bassists in southern Germany as a live and studio musician and is a member of various bands such as Astral Combo, Colour Change, and The Blue Monx.
Drummer Ewald Zach studied at the Bruckner Conservatory Linz. He has worked with Adelhard Roidinger, Dorretta Carter, and Peter Sadlo, and has performed in theater productions and at festivals.
