The story of Claire Zachanassian, a billionaire who returns to her hometown to buy the death of the man who betrayed her, resonates with disturbing clarity. What is justice worth when it is for sale? How far is a society willing to go to survive? With his new adaptation, Omar Porras expands the significance of this important work by confronting it with our present.
