La Banda Storica: Mozarts Last Symphonies The new ensemble with old instruments "La Banda Storica" was founded in summer 2022 and is a project by musicians of the Bern Symphony Orchestra. The members of the "Banda" passionately dedicate themselves to historical performance practice and bring their artistic brilliance and experience from the BSO into their musical work. Their credo is: joy of playing and excellence. The historical instruments sharpen musical rhetoric, give the sound colors striking contrasts, and combine intimacy and immediacy in musical expression. The enthusiasm of the "Banda" for these lively and authentic sounds is contagious and resonates with their audience at every concert. "La Banda Storica" has performed multiple times with conductors Jakob Lehmann, Michael Form, Giovanni Antonini, and Gianluca Capuano. Invitations to the anniversary of the Künstlerhaus Boswil in 2023 or to the opening of the Musiksommer Zürichsee festival in 2024 demonstrate how quickly the ensemble has made a name for itself. Collaborations with other Bernese cultural institutions are central for LA BANDA STORICA: after a Rossini opera gala with the HKB or a concert in cooperation with the Klingendes Museum Bern, the "Banda" opened the new season of the Bern Opera in August 2025 with a concertante performance of Bellini's "Norma".
