New album by KUNZ «Stadt Land Fluss Poet» Hymns to life KUNZ is back! And he comes to meet the public with a guitar case filled with stories. Under the name «Stadt Land Fluss Poet», the Lucerne musician, who sings in dialect, presents eleven new songs. After a long journey with his two eldest children – in Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia – and before his wife and he become parents of twins, the multiple winner of the «Swiss Music Awards» and the «Prix Walo» worked on his seventh studio album. He doesn't really know how he found the time to do it: "It happened, so to speak, between two doors," says KUNZ laughing. And maybe that's exactly why «Stadt Land Fluss Poet» is such a success: because he is full of life and manages to reflect it in his songs. "I sing to say something, as a friend or clown, as a father and husband," he says in the title song. A poet of everyday life, a singer-songwriter who tells with authenticity. And it is precisely in the way he gives meaning to small things that his art lies. His songs revolve around crushes, crazy family anecdotes, and funny little worries. About things we all know... Like when you meet old acquaintances, but absolutely can't remember their name. Reports from real life. "Everyone has a story," estimates KUNZ, "every little person is 'the world' for someone." He captures this wonderfully in «Die ganzi Wäut», this gently moving duet with Anna Känzig. The master of dialect folk tries to give meaning to the present by looking 99 years back and 99 years forward. And wondering if we can still hope. The twins were born nearly a century after their great-grandmother's birth. "Even then, people felt that the world was going to collapse," says KUNZ. "And if my mission is simply to give a little hope to people and encourage them to keep trusting, then that's good." Sometimes the titles are arranged as Americana-style ballads with stripped-down instrumentation, sometimes as catchy pop anthems. Ultimately, they always convince as narrative songs. Like wonderful declarations of love to existence. Opposing euphoric pop songs to the misery of the world, is that allowed? It's necessary, estimates KUNZ. He doesn't shy away from problems: "We need to see the dangers, but we also have the right to celebrate life as it is." Here, someone invites us to accept beauty: "S Glöck, das isch flöchtig, umarms, wenns du hesch!" He does so with contagious joie de vivre. It's powerful. Because optimism is not for the weak.
