Billstedt is called Billsteed in Low German, not everyone knows that, but there are actually more Low German fans than you might think. Because here live not only people from 130 nations, but also genuine Hamburgers who speak "Hamburger Platt," a special form of Low German. The event series "Cultures of Our City – Diversity on Stage" is dedicated to the language of Low German on Sunday, November 1. Together with the Billstedt Citizens' Association, the Kultur Palast Foundation presents actress Sandra Keck, known from the Ohnsorg Theater, with her program "Sabbel nich – Sing!" Musical sighs in Low German, it will be fun and a good opportunity to refresh your own Low German skills. Stefan Hiller is at the piano. And: Stephan Grühn, Sandra Keck's husband, is also part of the event. He will perform a lively tap dance. With the project "Cultures of Our City – Diversity on Stage," the Kultur Palast Foundation presents a twelve-part event series in the Billstedt district. The goal is to introduce various communities, showcase their culture, and create spaces for encounter. The project introduces the individual communities through a stage show, informs about traditions, and displays their art with the perspective of a livable future in a city area where 130 nations live. The project aims to promote social cohesion and make cultural diversity visible. Visitors will spend a convivial time together and experience the different communities in their full diversity of the district, learn more about each other, and come into contact. The project is funded by the district fund of Hamburg-Mitte.
The Low German evening is a cooperation between the Kultur Palast Foundation and the Billstedt Citizens' and Municipal Association of 1904 e. V.
