Description
Saturday, 17.10.2026 Time: 7:30 PM Venue: Church of St. Katharina, Kaiserstuhl Daria Zappa, Violin Anna Tyka Nyffenegger, Cello Tino Brütsch, Tenor Massimiliano Matesic, Piano This concert project is dedicated to two composers connected through their place of life and work Kaiserstuhl despite a century apart, on the 100th death anniversary of Hermann Suter. Hermann Suter (1870–1926), one of the most important Swiss composers of his time, spent formative years of his childhood and youth in Kaiserstuhl and Laufenburg before his path led him to Stuttgart, Leipzig, Zurich, Basel, and finally to Binningen. Tenor Tino Brütsch has lived in the old town of Laufenburg since 2002. Massimiliano Matesic (*1969), born in Florence and internationally trained, has lived in Kaiserstuhl since 2004. His music, also significantly inspired by the Rhine and the untouched nature of this region, enters into a lively dialogue here with Suter's work – between late Romanticism and the present, memory and new beginnings. The program combines songs and chamber music by Hermann Suter with works by Massimiliano Matesic, including Swiss premieres and world premieres. This creates a musical mirror of time, origin, development, and artistic closeness made audible. Program Hermann Suter: Two Evening Songs for voice, violin, cello, and piano Op. 8 Massimiliano Matesic: Four Youth Songs for tenor and piano Early Spring (H. von Hofmannsthal) Autumn Day (R. M. Rilke) Rain at Twilight (H. von Hofmannsthal) Bad Time (H.
