Concert in the Church Sent | The Lutz Brothers in Concert – Carte Blanche

Description

Rudolf Lutz – Piano
Matthias Lutz – Saxophone Since childhood, the Lutz Brothers have continued their shared musical story in a program as versatile as it is lively. Classical, jazz, and popular music merge into an immediate concert experience carried by the joy of playing. Lutz-O-Graphy
Rudolf (*1951) and Matthias (*1953) Lutz have been making music together since they were children. In their youth, it was the records of the "Golden-Gate-Quartet" that inspired them to play gospels (vocal duet with Matthias on the ukulele and Rudolf on the piano). As young adults, they founded a band called "Plebs" with colleagues. They performed jazz, pop, original compositions, and folk music at weddings and birthday parties. Soon after, their musical paths diverged: Matthias Lutz studied saxophone and worked, alongside his extensive band activities, as a music teacher at the Kantonsschule am Burggraben in St. Gallen. He was also briefly a conductor in the orchestra of Circus Knie. His brother Rudolf Lutz became a church musician, choir and orchestra conductor, and worked as a lecturer at several universities. Only in later years did they begin collaborating again, mostly in a church context for services and concerts, with the duo now called "Lutz Brothers" building a broad repertoire in various styles. Besides classical and old-time jazz (focusing on pieces by the legendary soprano saxophonist Sidney Bechet), they also play pop, rock, and Latin groove. Their interplay is characterized by strong spontaneity, joy of playing, and emotion. They still do it with great enthusiasm. Their motto: "Keep Swinging"! The KulturBus will take you for free after the concert to Scuol, Ftan, Ardez, and Tarasp. Register at the box office.
