A vibrant piece of technological history from the pioneering era of mobility. The Klausenrennen for automobiles and motorcycles at Klausenpass (1,948 m above sea level) in Switzerland was considered the toughest mountain test in Europe from 1922 to 1934. The best racers of its time, such as Caracciola, Chiron, Bullus, Nuvolari, Varzi, or Stuck, came to Linthal to take on the 21.5 km gravel track. A victory at the Klausenrennen was of the highest renown for drivers and manufacturers alike. Between 1993 and 2013, five memorial races were held at Klausen with great national and international resonance, and in 2022, the 100th birthday was celebrated as part of a memorial event with show drives. From 2027, the Klausenrennen will return as a contemporary revival event. The Klausenrennen Revival takes place from September 24 to 26, 2027, on the historic route from Linthal (Glarus canton) to the Klausenpasshöhe (Uri canton). The event continues the legendary Klausenrennen of 1922 to 1934 and makes a unique piece of mobility and technology history come alive. The focus is on vehicles from the pre-war period. Selected historic vehicles from more recent times complement the participant field. Around 250 automobiles and 150 motorcycles with drivers from across Europe are expected. As a living cultural asset, the Klausenrennen Revival combines tradition, engineering art, and passion, and captivates young and old with its special atmosphere.
