Description

Some of you may know the Cassandra myth.
For all others, I will tell it briefly:
Cassandra, that is me, was given the ability to predict the future by a god, regardless of which one, but because she, that is I, did not want to sleep with him, he spat into my mouth and punished me by making no one believe me.
Since then, much has happened. After centuries of sleepless nights as an eternal seer of all the preceding proxy wars, tsunami waves, and reactor accidents – yet never heard – Cassandra draws a line and withdraws from the public eye.
Before hanging up her career as a myth, she invites once more: for a small farewell in a large circle, for a farewell concert.
Goodbye, unbelieving faces, who do not want to believe, cursed by Apollo, unable to believe.
Farewell, audience. That’s it. No more Cassandra.
But there are still some details to clarify:
Which song do we play first? The one about rampant fascism or the one about military readiness?
Why always war again, when the last and the one before and the one before that were already incredible?
Is it worth shouting warnings from the rooftops or spray slogans on the walls?
Or has it never been worth it?
Is uncertainty bliss?
Who wants to hear their own death date?
Do you even want to know when all this ends?
And how?
If everything keeps recurring, can we just skip the usual and fast-forward straight to the end?
The author Paula Kläy, born in Zurich in 1997, writes a text about Cassandra as a timeless myth in catastrophic times for RambaZamba.
Recently, Kläy and Rieck, both part of the writing collective DIEZEN, are working together on Gigantische Einsamkeit (2025) at the Munich Kammerspiele.
Actress and singer Hieu Pham and musician, composer, and actor Leo Solter regularly perform together as members of the RambaZamba house band 21 downbeat.
For KASSANDRA, they are creating a musical happening across all genres.

General Information

Cassandra, the mythological figure with the gift of prophecy, invites you to her final performance. In an emotional farewell concert, she reflects on the themes of war and the inability to be heard.
