Karpatami

Description

The dance and music program Karpatami is based on traditional expressions of folk culture in selected areas of the Carpathian arch. Due to the spread of pastoral culture from the southern regions of the Carpathians through Transcarpathian Ukraine, Slovakia, and Poland to eastern Moravia and the southeastern tip of Silesia, we find connections and common musical and dance intersections here. The beauty of songs, archaic musical instruments, and older dance layers creates a colorful mosaic while honoring the roots of folk culture. A culture that was shaped in the past by exceptional interpreters who have already stamped it with a distinctive form. In preparing the program, the authorial collective was inspired not only by song collections but also by archival audiovisual recordings that capture the musical and dance expressions of the bearers of folk culture in their original environment. The premiere took place on April 4, 2025, at the Radost Theatre in Brno.
