Description
In the midst of Picasso's paintings, the Hotel Beau Séjour embarks on a journey through four centuries: from Henry Purcell's Fantasies for String Quartet (1680) through Felix Mendelssohn's Octet in E-flat major (1825) to the world premiere of the string octet commissioned by the GKML from Helena Winkelman (2027). The family journey on stage through two generations of musicians with Daniel Dodds & Friends is colorful and shimmering: couples, mothers, and daughters make music together. This complexity is also reflected in Helena Winkelman's music, whose distinctly personal signature emerges as a clever, open fusion of contemporary sounds with avant-garde rock, folk music, and Asian traditions. Two octets in one evening, with not only Mendelssohn's octet impressing with its astonishing genius. Henry Purcell – Fantasies
