Participatory Day: Urban Market Gardening (in German)

Description

The Participatory Day begins with a visit to the exhibition « Ruth Asawa » focused on the artist's passion for gardening and botanical drawing. A trip to the vegetable fields of the plankton association then allows participants to familiarize themselves with the principle of solidarity agriculture and actively engage in fieldwork. Participants contribute to harvesting, weeding, and caring for the plants, while discussing the concept of the edible city. Open to all interested persons from 16 years old. No prior knowledge required. Please bring: sturdy shoes, rain gear, drinks, and snacks. Gloves and tools necessary for gardening work are provided! The excursion will take place in all weather conditions (except severe storms). Schedule: 11:00–12:00 Visit to the « Ruth Asawa » exhibition 12:00–12:30 Travel to plankton, Bäumlihof (individually by tram or bike) 12:30 Gathering at Bäumlihof with a small snack and welcome by plankton 13:00–15:00 Presentation and participatory program in the fields with 2 market gardeners. Meeting point: Beyeler Museum (Foyer) Excursion locations: Fondation Beyeler and Verein plankton, Bäumlihof In cooperation with the association Verein plankton – Die Gemüsekooperative aus der Stadt.
