The lessons will be tailored to the current group composition and their skills, and there's no need to worry – Jarek is a professional. Jazz dance – 10:00 to 12:30 “In the Jazz dance class, you will explore a dynamic and expressive dance that blends elements of African, Caribbean, and European traditions. The lesson will include rhythmic movements and a strong emphasis on individuality, sharp footwork, and body isolation. You will work on choreographic phrases where all these elements will be applied.” Contemporary – 13:00 to 14:30 “The aim of this course is to enhance the perception of your own body and its efficiency, as well as physical articulation. It will start with simple exercises to strengthen and create a good foundation for body preparation. Special emphasis will be placed on healthy body mechanics, principles of physical laws, effective use of weight, falls to the ground, jumps, etc.” About Jarek Jarek Cemerek studied classical ballet at the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava, choreography and dance pedagogy at the Prague HAMU, and completed an internship at the Theatre Academy in Helsinki. He began his career as a classical dancer at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, Laterna Magika, and the State Opera, before transitioning to contemporary dance. As a performer, he has worked with several European companies, including the Belgian Compagnie Thor, Austrian Tanztheater Wien, Swiss Stadttheater Bern, and the prestigious British company DV8 Physical Theatre. As an internationally recognized dancer, choreographer, and educator, he has worked around the world. He has taught at prestigious schools including The Juilliard School in New York, CNSMDP in Paris, The New Zealand School of Dance, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Palucca Schule in Germany, and Korea National University of Arts. For his long-standing work in contemporary dance, he won a professorship at Bruckner University in Linz, for which he received Special Acknowledgement. In the choreographic field, he achieved significant success with the performance Void Amongst Humans, for which he received two awards at the Czech Dance Platform in 2011 – Dancer of the Year and Choreography of the Year. 🏆🏆 He has also been active in Asia, and among his latest projects is the choreography Unseen (2025) created for the Korean National Contemporary Dance Company in Seoul.
