With the recent expansion of the orchestra, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra has grown to a core ensemble with 14 first violins. This not only allows for more power in monumental works but also stylistic agility – as this season's closing concert demonstrates. At the beginning, the ensemble is slimmed down: Mozart's Sinfonia concertante for violin and viola thrives on flexible musical dialogue, elegance, and chamber music transparency. The orchestra opens the space for two solo instruments that intimately intertwine in the slow movement like an operatic duet. With Janine Jansen and Timothy Ridout, two outstanding soloist personalities meet. At the same time, it shows how the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra continuously expands its soloist family: alongside the internationally acclaimed violinist Janine Jansen, Timothy Ridout, a former rising star of the orchestra, takes the stage. After Mozart, the late-Romantic and colorfully orchestrated orchestra takes the grand stage. Frederick Delius’ The Walk to the Paradise Garden opens a late-impressionist soundscape; Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet leads into a world of love, conflict, movement, and dramatic tension. Thus, this concert concludes the central themes of the season: classical clarity, strong soloists, and vivid sound worlds of great emotional impact. Line-up
