Old-Time music originates from the folklore of European and African immigrants. It is part of the genres of American roots music. Old-Time music draws its roots from the traditional folklore of European immigrants, notably English, Irish, and Scottish. Additionally, "Old-Time" music incorporates a significant part of African-American musical culture, which arrived in America with enslaved Africans. Many dance tunes of "Old-Time" music date back to old Central European pieces.
