Description
Johann Sebastian Bach's six Suites for solo cello are among the most significant works in the cello repertoire. On this evening, Suites Nos. 1–3 will be performed in their entirety, providing an overview of this extraordinary work. Timothée Montreuil was born in France in 2001 and is currently completing his master's degree at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Music, under the tutelage of Christian Poltéra. His versatile and broad repertoire ranges from Baroque music to contemporary and experimental music. He is characterized by his musical sensitivity and his ability to captivate the audience with technically demanding and emotionally expressive interpretations. As the winner of first prize in the 'Excellence' category at the National Competition in Épinal, he furthered his musical training with Johannes Moser and Wolfgang Emmanuel Schmidt in various masterclasses across Europe. He regularly performs as a soloist, chamber musician, and with various orchestras. He plays on a modern cello, built in 2024 by Rahel Widmer and Thiemo Schutter in Bern.
