Conductor Christopher Ward, Conductor Soloists Estelle Revaz, Cello Works Schubert's Overture "In the Italian Style" opens the evening, conducted by Christopher Ward, with liveliness and theatricality. Following Haydn's first cello concerto, performed by Estelle Revaz, contemporary accents are introduced with "Tuxedo: Vasco 'de' Gama" by the award-winning composer Hannah Kendall. Finally, Mendelssohn's "Italian Symphony" combines energy and lightness.
