Description
The IRONMAN 70.3 Switzerland in Rapperswil-Jona has been attracting several thousand athletes to the Rose City for this unique triathlon event every year since 2007. The course of the half-IRONMAN covers a total of 113 km, which corresponds to 70.3 miles and thus provides the suffix "70.3". The athletes swim the first 1.9 km in the crystal-clear Obersee before switching to their racing bikes. For the 90 km bike course, a 45 km lap along the lake and through hilly, green countryside is completed twice. The final half marathon over 21.1 km (two 10.5 km laps) leads through the heart of Rapperswil's old town via the fish market and the "Stairway to heaven" - the steps up to the castle. The finish line is on Lidoplatz between the ice rink and the football pitch.
An unforgettable experience for all spectators too. There are numerous "hotspots" along the routes - places where the athletes are cheered on loudly with music and lots of spectators - and there is also a festival restaurant on the event site.
