Information Evening on the Possible Independence of the Rüti Municipal Utilities

At the same time, a participation process begins, during which the population can express their concerns regarding independence. The independence had been planned for some time. However, for legal reasons, the municipal council withdrew the proposal shortly before the vote in spring 2024. Since then, the municipal council and the municipal utilities have thoroughly reviewed and revised the proposal with external advice. In June 2026, the Rüti municipal council commissioned the municipal utilities to prepare a proposal suitable for a vote. This proposal aims to definitively transfer the municipal utilities of Rüti into an independent joint-stock company. However, the shares will remain entirely owned by the municipality, as was the case with Zentrum Breitenhof AG, which became independent at the end of 2025. Information evening and start of the public participation process On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the municipal council and the municipal utilities will host an information evening with discussion from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the hall of Zentrum Breitenhof. The main contents of the proposal will be presented and explained, along with the next steps in the political process. After the presentation, there will be an aperitif and an opportunity to ask questions. The information evening also marks the beginning of a public participation process. From September 29 to November 10, the public will have the opportunity to review the proposal and related documents and provide feedback. The feedback collected during this process will be evaluated and incorporated into the foundational work where possible. Only then will a final proposal be developed. A ballot on the possible independence of the Rüti municipal utilities is currently scheduled for June 6, 2027.
