In the Footsteps of Catholic Dissent with Michal Mrtvý - Walk

What was it like to live in Olomouc at a time when the StB monitored you for your opinions? Join us for an experiential walk in the footsteps of Michal Mrtvý, a Catholic dissident from Olomouc and collaborator of the samizdat. We will visit places that played an important role in his story – from the house where he fled from the StB, through one of his escape routes around the heating plants and Šantovka, to the court where he stood before the then judiciary. We will conclude the walk on Opletalova Street, where he was arrested by the StB. Along the way, we will also recall what Olomouc looked like at the time the story took place, and perhaps Vít Pelikán, another witness and person who worked with Michal Mrtvý in the samizdat, will join us. This is not a classic guided tour. You will experience a story that unfolded right in the streets you will walk through. Come and follow in the footsteps of a person who refused to submit to the regime – and discover what Olomouc looked like through the eyes of Catholic dissent.
