The Joseph Haydn Foundation was established in 2014 with the aim of recording all of the Austrian composer's symphonies by the 300th anniversary of his birth in 2032. According to the latest research, 107 symphonies will be performed and recorded under the direction of Giovanni Antonini.

So far, 18 CDs have been released, which have been highly praised by the specialist press as reference recordings. Three symphonic rarities and one of the most beautiful cello concertos with the wonderful Sol Gabetta as soloist can be discovered on this Haydn evening. Under the motto "Il dolce far niente", you can expect a very special Haydn program that celebrates life in all its lightness.

Symphony No. 21 in A major is an early chamber music work that demonstrates Haydn's love of experimentation. A symphony in C major, which has not yet found its way into Haydn's catalog of works and bears the subtitle "Symphony for Spain", suggests that the person who commissioned it belonged to the Spanish court. The symphony is a fascinating work that was only later attributed to Haydn. All good things come in threes: as a work from Haydn's middle creative period, Symphony No. 51 in B flat major is known for its demanding horn parts and dramatic basic gesture.
