"Ich habe genug" - Soul Music by J. S. Bach

Two of the most impressive and moving solo cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach, BWV 82a "Ich habe genug" and BWV 199 "Mein Herze schwimmt im Blut", are at the center of this special concert and promise an evening full of introspection, comfort, and musical depth. With Monika Mauch (soprano), an outstanding Bach interpreter known for her clear, expressive voice, has been engaged for this occasion. She is accompanied by the Sinfonietta Barock on historical instruments under the direction of Lukas Grimm. The German soprano Monika Mauch studied with Richard Wistreich in Trossingen, Jill Feldman in Paris, Rita Loving in Munich, Kai Wessel in Cologne, and Kimberley Brockman in St. Gallen. The soloist, trained especially in baroque performance practice, sings baroque, classical, and romantic oratorios, operas, motets, and cantatas worldwide, but her particular love is solo singing in ensembles. She performs with ensembles such as Daedalus, Collegium Vocale Gent, the Hilliard Ensemble (ECM recording 'Morimur'), Cantus Cölln, CordArte Cologne, Caprice, Montréal Baroque, les Cornets Noirs, Private Musique, La Galanía, Capricornus Ensemble, Hamburger Ratsmusik, and many others. The ElztalSinfonietta Freiburg was founded in December 2002 in Freiburg by Prof. Schweizer and the couple Daxer to create an ensemble that performs in various chamber music formations as well as as a symphony orchestra, characterized by musical flexibility and great professional craftsmanship. The orchestra mainly consists of freelance, professional musicians, all experienced in baroque/historical performance practice. Projects have included performances at the Glottertäler and Staufener Horn Days, in the municipal and church concert series in Gengenbach, as well as collaborations with regional choirs (including the Freiburg Chamber Choir) and concerts across the region.
Since its founding until 2012, the musical director of the orchestra was Prof. Rolf Schweizer. Lukas Grimm has since taken over the artistic direction of the orchestra. Lukas Grimm (*1986) studied church music and organ improvisation at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. After his master's degrees, he completed a study of orchestral conducting at the Karlsruhe University of Music, which he finished with distinction in April 2014. As a conductor, Lukas Grimm has already worked and performed with the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, the RIAS Chamber Choir, as well as the NDR and MDR choirs. His engagements have included the Federal Youth Orchestra, the Baden State Theatre Karlsruhe, and the Volksschauspiele Ötigheim. During the Asia and Europe tours of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra in 2018 and 2019, Lukas Grimm prepared the choirs for René Jacobs on site.
