Language: German Subtitles: English Rosa von Praunheim was a gay author, producer, film director, and activist of the LGBTQIA+ movement, and made over 150 short and feature films between 1968 and 2025. He died in Berlin on December 17, 2025, at the age of 83. The HIQFF has already screened three of his films at the Metropolis cinema this year. Currently, Ich Bin Meine Eigene Frau is being shown at the HIQFF. This semi-documentary film portrays Charlotte von Mahlsdorf (1928–2002), who grew up in fascist Germany during World War II as Lothar Berfelde. She was the founder and long-time director of the Gründerzeit Museum in Berlin-Mahlsdorf. Von Mahlsdorf described herself as a transvestite and as a ‘woman in a man’s body’, and used the pronoun ‘she’.
