HYPNOTIST FROM THE BUS STOP A gentle comedy that slows down time In late February and early March 2026, a new original monodrama will enter the Czech theater scene, combining humor, poetry, and subtle hypnotic techniques in a Miltonian style and NLP.
The performance Hypnotist from the Bus Stop offers the audience an experience that not only entertains but also calms, slows down, and temporarily frees them from everyday pressure and rush. The Prague premiere will take place in the intimate setting of Apropo Theater in Malá Strana – on two dates, February 26 and March 4, 2026. Five stops, one life, and an audience that is part of the story The story follows a man in his fifties waiting for a bus. What seems like an ordinary situation transforms into a personal and poetic journey, during which the audience discovers their own "stops" – rush, silence, family, reconciliation, and the return home. Each scene has a unique atmosphere, gentle humor, and space for breathing and quiet awareness. "The hypnotist is not a classic theater performance. It is almost a children's play that I want to enjoy together with the audience. If the audience engages, they will leave with a clearer mind, calmer – and perhaps even with a smile on their face. It is an adventure that only works when the boundaries between the stage and the audience disappear," says the author and main actor Šimon Pečenka. The text is written in the spirit of gentle hypnotic language – the words have their rhythm, evoke images, and naturally lead the visitor to relaxation. The audience still follows the plot, but with a lighter head and calmer breath. If they allow it.
Creators who combine humor with depth
Šimon Pečenka – author and performer Actor, host, singer, writer, and hypnotherapist. He has been active in the artistic sphere for over 30 years, is the author of the books Telephones from Quarantine, Full Bucket of Optimism, and Mini-Hypnosis. He has given dozens of lectures on hypnosis throughout the Czech Republic. His style is kind, human, and naturally funny – and that is exactly how the entire performance is.

Directed by: Vojta Nouzák An experienced television director who has the gift of working with naturalness, civility, and gentle humor. He returns to theater direction after ten years – bringing a sense of detail, humanity, and a relaxed atmosphere.
From Prague to the whole country After the premiere at Apropo Theater, the production will also head to the regions. "We would like to present our bus stop, along with the hypnotist, to audiences across the Czech Republic. Overload, stress, and rush are the same everywhere – and we offer a small pause that suits everyone," says Pečenka. The performance is suitable for smaller, intimate spaces – tea houses, cultural centers, reading rooms, community centers, and smaller theaters. A small stage, a good atmosphere, and a willingness to pause for a moment are all that is needed.
