Description
The Regional Museum K. A. Polánek in Žatec invites you to a new exhibition titled Historie komiksu. The festive opening will take place on April 23, 2026, at 5 PM in the main museum building (Husova 678, Žatec), with an introductory speech by collector and moderator Radek Jirgl. "We will offer you an overview of the history of Czech comics from 1938, when the most famous Czech comic Rychlé šípy began to be published. In addition to Rychlé šípy, the exhibition also focuses on other phenomena of Czech comics such as Čtyřlístek or special issues of magazines ABC and Kometa. The exhibition includes not only the most famous titles but also original letters from the correspondence of Jaroslav Foglar. You can also admire rare original comic templates from the original artists, as they were drawn for comic magazines," explained Jitka Krouzová, head of the museum's promotional and exhibition department. The exhibition will run until October 18, 2026, and there will be a themed May 18 Museum Night in Žatec (May 15 from 3 PM to 8 PM).
