With the 'Hidebound Heyday Helmets Project', four extraordinary musicians come together, deliberately crossing stylistic boundaries. The focus of the current crossover project is on visual artist and singer-songwriter Bernd Erich Gall (beg56) and guitarist Thomas Hagel, who have been performing together for over three decades and are constantly seeking new musical configurations. As part of their program 'Bodytown', they have invited world musician Bhadra Nofer on percussion and violinist Peter Buchauer. Together, they develop a multi-layered sound that takes Gall's original compositions into new sonic spaces. As in previous projects – including with American musician and Stockhausen student Bryan Wolf – the stage once again becomes a creative experimental space. The musical evening at Osterfeld begins with Gall's songs, which are reinterpreted by the participating musicians with their individual musical signatures. The unusual instrumentation of acoustic and electric guitar, keyboard, synthesizer, violin, percussion, soundscapes, and electronic sound elements creates a varied soundscape between rock, Brit-pop, indie, alternative, crossover, and jazz. Characteristic are idiosyncratic song structures, atmospheric soundscapes, delicate fingerstyle guitar riffs, electronic rhythms, and multi-voiced singing passages. A special highlight of the concert evening is the live premiere of songs from Gall's (beg56) new album 'Bodytown', which was released in September 2026.
