Description
One of the greats of the Swiss music scene comes to Museum Langmatt with his chamber music partners – Heinz Holliger. Whether he conducts, composes, or plays his oboe, his music is physically palpable and his programs are rich in relationships. An absolute hit in Vienna around 1800 was the aria «Pria ch’io l’impegno» by Joseph Weigl. In his «Gassenhauer» trio, Ludwig van Beethoven plays around with and transforms this hit in nine variations. Schumann's five cello romances were never published because the still unpublished manuscript was destroyed. In the «Romancendres» for cello and piano, Heinz Holliger refers to these compositions turned to ashes. The work touches through its intense sonority. Heinz Holliger, oboe
