World premiere of «Hamlet loses his father, the king. How? Poison, administered to the king by Claudius, his brother. Fratricide? Yes! Fratricide! Uncle Claudius then marries Hamlet's mother, Gertrude. Uncle Claudius is thus Hamlet's new father. Danish conditions! Ophelia, a skeptical fiancée, tries to reach Hamlet. Denmark, for her: a peninsula. She tries to persuade him to leave. Love. Hamlet doesn't understand that. Denmark, not love. He understands nothing. Ghosts are wandering around. Polonius, an advisor, amuses everyone. He finds it. Ophelia wishes for "dream, write me around and around!" and draws a conclusion." In Stephan Teuwissen's dream play, an actor wanders through a Hamlet world. He navigates through comedy, grand gestures, and encounters new, gentle nuances within the classical material. Teuwissen depicts the characters sensitively and seeks tenderness and affection within tension and violence in his piece. With this text, director Mélanie Huber and TOBS! ensemble member Fabian Müller undertake a parforce ride between self-shock, comedy, and poetry.
