Satire in philosophical guise
The cabaret artist Hagen Rether comes to the Stadthalle Weinheim on April 11. Hagen Rether, the satirical philosopher, is a regular guest in Weinheim and has already fallen in love with the Stadthalle and its audience during his first appearance. On April 11, from 6:00 PM, he will once again demonstrate that he is an exceptional figure among German cabaret artists. His new program, with the eternally same title "Liebe," features a gorilla on the poster. Everyone is curious about what significance this might have for the evening. Perhaps it is the shared love for bananas that connects Rether and the gorilla. One thing is certain: as always, the artist will eat some bananas during the show – maybe as an energy boost, because Hagen Rether usually has a lot to say, which naturally takes some time... Rether is spontaneous; each evening is different, says the artist himself, who is never after quick laughs. What he serves his audience is not traditional cabaret, but rather an associative game, an invitation to think along: "We can't save the world? Yes, who else?" he asks the audience earnestly. He links current events with forgotten ones, the near with the distant, questions, denies, doubts. With surprising comparisons, he entices the audience to change perspective – to a different view of the world, the future, and the mirror.
