Description

It is said that there are no longer unexplored lands in the world, except for underground territories and the seabed. Perhaps the same is true for mental spaces: these are depths that are difficult to map. Can a foreign language open up unknown inner territories that our mother tongue struggles to articulate? Can words from elsewhere act as tools for reconstruction? Situated between Andy Kaufman and a character from the Coen brothers, the American version of Florence Minder humorously explores the full range of shame, terrible and ridiculous depressions, and salvaging movements imposed by life's difficult accidents. Constantly questioning our intimate and collective relationship with fiction, the playwright, actress, and director unleashes an explosive interpretative energy in this delightful blend of humor and tragedy. Founded in 2016, the Venedig Meer company, co-directed by Florence Minder, Manon Faure, and Julien Jaillot, has been a partner of Théâtre Varia (Brussels) since 2022. It produces, among other shows, Saison 1 (2017), Faire quelque chose. (C’est le faire, non ?) (2020), and L’invisible n’est pas inexistant (2024). In 2018, it received the SACD Theatre Prize.
