Gondwana Records Presents is now probably the most traditional concert evening of the concert agency Palme, which we curate every year together with our friends from Gondwana Records and to which they invite three of their most captivating artists each time.
Next year, we can look forward to a diverse and groundbreaking lineup. Kicking things off is saxophonist, flutist, and composer Jack Wyllie.
Jack Wyllie, co-founder of the Portico Quartet, presents his first project under his own name and introduces a new band featuring Hinako Omori on keyboards, Milo Fitzpatrick (Portico Quartet/Vega Trails) on bass, and drummer Jesse Barrett (Mammal Hands).
As a saxophonist, flutist, and composer, known primarily for his work with the Portico Quartet and with Hania Rani on her piano concert Non Fiction, Wyllie is distinguished by his unique sound on the flute as well as the soprano and tenor saxophones, making him one of the key figures in contemporary music. As an enthusiastic collaborator whose projects blend influences from ambient, Fourth World, electronica, and modern classical, the recently released Eternal Spring is his first recording under his own name.
Shimmering, bubbling, sprouting, and blooming, yet appealingly familiar, Eternal Spring is inspired both by Wyllie's love for green nature and the idea of a persistent, flickering sense of hope; his compositions strike a balance between uplifting melodies and cyclical rhythms while unabashedly striving for something hopeful and beautiful. With Eternal Spring, Wyllie reveals the magic that surrounds us, taking us away from our everyday lives.

Jesse Barrett – Drums Gondwana Records is an independent record label founded in 2008 in Manchester by trumpeter, composer, and producer Matthew Halsall and his brother, graphic designer and artist Daniel Halsall.
Inspired by their love for deep spiritual jazz and British club culture, Gondwana initially focused on releases by Matthew Halsall and saxophonist Nat Birchall, featuring the crème de la crème of the Manchester jazz scene. In 2012, Gondwana released the debut albums of the acoustic-electronic trio GoGo Penguin and the folk-jazz minimalists Mammal Hands. In 2018, they heralded the return of the Portico Quartet to the studio, contributing to the definition of a movement of progressive electronics and jazz-influenced new music that, alongside jazz, post-classical, and ambient music, constitutes one of the label's signature sounds. Subsequently, Gondwana became home to groundbreaking and progressive new artists such as Hania Rani, Svaneborg Kardyb, Vega Trails, and Jasmine Myra.
The concerts of Gondwana Records Presents are produced in collaboration with some of the most renowned venues in Europe, from the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg to the Roundhouse and Union Chapel in London and beyond.
