Geology of Switzerland

Description

Switzerland offers an extremely large geological diversity in a very small area. The Alps tell an exciting story of ancient continents from the time of Pangaea, the formation of an ocean, and later mountain formation through the closing of the ocean followed by the collision of continents. In the course, we explore the main processes of Alpine formation, discuss rocks and landscape forms, and learn how the complex geological history of Switzerland is visible and understandable in the field. Our speaker Léon Frey studied Earth sciences at ETH Zurich and is currently producing videos for teaching at ETH.
