Joint Concert within the Framework of the Music Festival «Szenenwechsel»

Description

Among the monumental highlights of this season is also the joint concert, in which the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra teams up with the HSLU Symphony Orchestra. The program uses this large ensemble in a double way. Sergei Rachmaninoff's Second Symphony continues the late romantic line of the season with Russian melancholy, wide soundscapes, and great melodic breath. In equally large dimensions moves beforehand the contemporary work «Seven Towers – 1» by Cécile Marti. The Swiss composer studied at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Music with Dieter Ammann and wrote her «Seven Towers» for a sound apparatus of around 120 musicians. Marti herself compared her sound sculptures to her work as a sculptor. With differently designed, like "carved in stone" time courses, a music of pictorial narrative suggestive power arises. Thus, in this concert, two large-scale sound worlds meet: contemporary orchestral architecture and Rachmaninoff's late romantic vastness. Cast
