Description
On the opening evening of the GAIA Music Festival, the audience is introduced to this year's festival theme with a Wandelkonzert. In three institutions of the Bern Museum Quarter, three half-hour concerts take place – featuring works that artistically explore various perspectives "on life." The ephemeral nature of a butterfly, sonically captured by Kaija Saariaho, and Mahler's distant worlds meet – and memory encounters transience as Schubert recognizes himself in his Doppelgänger. The program is complemented by works from Maddalena Casulana, the first European composer whose music was published. Between the short concerts, visitors move from the Museum of Communication to the ALPS Alpine Museum of Switzerland and to the media library of PHBern. The subsequent aperitif at the Museum of Communication with the artists and the GAIA team offers space for exchange and encounter. Clarinet: Damien Bachmann
