Gabriela Löffel (*1972, Kt. Bern, CH; lives and works in Geneva, CH) develops an audiovisual practice that exposes the political economies of our perception. Her installations arise from long-standing research at sites such as military training areas, security conferences, or the opaque zones of global financial flows, where power structures, narratives about systemic connections, and fictional layers intertwine. Löffel works with methods of translation, fragmentation, and distancing, in which voices are reinterpreted, images shifted, and scenarios dismantled. This results in precisely assembled spaces where reality appears as a network of stories, projections, and devices. Central to Löffel's work is the infrastructure of speaking and listening. The artist understands sound as an independent level where meanings emerge – often in collaboration with sound artists and musicians. This collaborative element is emphasized in the exhibition and expanded with practices of auditory thinking.
