Description
The Lataria Sent is part of the Alp and Dairy Cooperative Sent. The cooperative consists of all milk-producing farmers in Sent and operates the "Lataria" consisting of a milk collection point, cheese dairy, and shop.
Around 1.3 million kg of milk are produced annually by the dairy farms in Sent. Part of this is processed in the small cheese dairy into cheeses like Sentiner, Mutschli, or Albin, or into yogurt, quark, etc. In summer, the young cattle alp Fenga as well as the dairy cow alps Telf/Spadla and Alp Prà San Flurin are also operated.
The milk at Alp Prà San Flurin is processed on site into cheese and butter and then sold in the shop in Sent.
Part of the milk from Alp Telf/Spadla reaches the cheese dairy directly via a milk pipeline from the alp.
Would you like to take a look behind the scenes of the "Lataria" (or also "Chascharia"), see where the milk is processed into cheese and yogurt? Would you like to smell the scent of a cheese cellar? Are you interested in why only part of the milk produced by the dairy farms is processed into cheese etc. and why?
Space in the "Chäsi" and cheese cellar is limited, so registration is necessary – we can offer this insight into a cultural asset of Sent to around 40 interested people. Registration at sturnels@gmx.ch or via the contact form on our homepage https://www.sent-sturnels.ch/kontakt/
