Description

With their long and successful career, Frente Cumbiero has become one of the most important representatives in exploring the sonic identity of Cumbia. Led by Colombian songwriter and producer Mario Galeano Toro (perhaps known from projects Ondatrópica and Los Pirañas), Frente Cumbiero is considered a pioneer of the new Cumbia movement in Colombia. Notable live performances include MoMA in New York, the Roskilde Festival, Womad, Womadelaide, Womex, Sónar, and Fuji Rock Festival. The band has toured Latin America, Africa, Europe, the USA, Russia, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Frente Cumbiero's catalog includes collaborations with legendary musicians such as Mad Professor, the Kronos Quartet, Orquesta La Delio Valdez, and Minyo Crusaders, demonstrating their continuous expansion of the boundaries of Cumbia and Latin American folk music in general. As a live band, Frente Cumbiero performs in a quartet format. With two wind instruments, live percussion, and electronic sounds or pre-recorded sequences, they bring a powerful tropical sound to the dance floor. Concert duration 50-65 minutes - children of all ages are warmly welcome to this concert. - We ensure appropriate volume levels but recommend hearing protection for the little ones.
