In 2026, we will celebrate our 50th anniversary with an exceptional production: "Madame Yamamoto is still there" by Dea Loher, one of the most important playwrights of our time. The play, created in 2024 at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and simultaneously at the Tokyo Engeki Ensemble (TEE) in Tokyo, features people like you and me. People in search of a fulfilling life, connections, and tenderness. The plot The play takes place in a communal building and depicts the relationships between its inhabitants: Erik and Nino, a couple, their young niece, and Mrs. Yamamoto, an elderly woman. The latter always leaves her front door ajar to let in the "breath of the world." She embodies hope, solidarity, and the refusal to succumb to growing isolation. With subtle humor and intelligent dialogues, Dea Loher highlights how people grapple with their aspirations, fears, and desires. The author Dea Loher Dea Loher, born in 1964 in Traunstein, is one of the most important playwrights of our time. Her plays have been awarded numerous times and performed worldwide. With her profound language and relevant social analyses, she is considered one of the most significant voices in contemporary theater. From August 10, seats can be reserved for wheelchair users, subject to availability, for all performances. The public parking in the municipality of Naters is available for spectators during performances (Bammatta school, Stapfen, Kelchbach center park).
