Questions of Metaphysics

Description

To engage in the dispute, one would first have to know what metaphysics is actually supposed to be. That is what we want to spend an evening on. However, definitions are often dry and not always so enlightening. Therefore, the focus will be on the classical topics of metaphysics: the most burning questions, the hottest points of contention, the most interesting positions. A guide will be provided by distinctions that are important for or within metaphysics: for example, between general and special metaphysics, between concrete and abstract entities, essence and accident, substance and matter, determinism and free will. On our way, we will also get to know some of the best-known figures in the history of metaphysics.
