Florian Germann (*1978, Kreuzlingen, CH; lives and works in Zurich, CH) explores the relationship between humans, animals, and machines in his sculptures and installations. He works with materials that he understands as energy carriers, shaping them into hybrid bodies that appear both familiar and strange. His objects seem like organic-technical beings, whose surfaces and structures refer to physical as well as mythological forces. Some sculptures develop a life of their own, inhabited by insects, birds, or plants, becoming dynamic systems where interaction and change are central. Germann's sculptures can thus become environments that act both perceptually and formatively – instruments that channel energy, direct sensory impressions, and establish connections between living forms. They resemble devices that receive, transmit, or transform, leaving unclear whether they are built, grown, or emerged from another reality. In this ambiguity, spaces open up for speculation, where new ideas of coexistence and materiality unfold.
