Like a textile artist, Flora Hibberd weaves layered levels of meaning into her music. The London-born musician has been living in Paris since she was eighteen. Her songs effortlessly move between guitar- or synth-driven pop and reinterpretations of a traditional 17th-century song. They pulsate with surreal allusions and everyday feelings – a soundscape of daily life, interwoven with cosmic signs and mysterious references. Hibberd describes her songwriting as a walk through a strangely familiar neighborhood, making the quirky, enigmatic, and mystical visible and celebrating it. Her acclaimed debut album Swirl (2025, 22TWENTY) was recorded in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and praised internationally by the press. The French newspaper Le Monde called it one of the outstanding indie-folk releases of the year, while KEXP described her latest release as a “timeless collection of expansive folk-pop songs.” With her compelling melodies, literary lyrics, and captivating stage presence, Flora Hibberd has quickly established herself as one of the most exciting new voices in the current music scene.
