Description

Their marriage has failed, but Julia and Thomas are also not interested in single life. Therefore, they take the adventurous step to look for a partner again at an advanced age. This requires not only courage but also endurance, resilience, and a lot of optimism, as shown in their first attempt: carefully planned as a "safety net" for each other, Julia and Thomas want to hold their dates in the same restaurant — with equally serious consequences for the potential partners and the laughter muscles of the audience. Because while no sympathy or even approach develops between Julia and her self-absorbed counterpart, Thomas's companion immediately bursts out with her unfulfilled desire to have children and a lot of knowledge about libido-enhancing foods, which causes the evening to go completely off the rails and ultimately makes both ex-spouses flee. The subsequent attempts to navigate the maze of dating apps or the well-meaning matchmaking efforts of the neighbor also fail because Julia and Thomas somehow always run into each other at the wrong moment and disrupt the smooth flow of the date. It's not easy to part peacefully and then also remain friends — and being two is at least less lonely. Peter Quilter has once again demonstrated great comedic talent and written a fast-paced farce for full-blooded actors. With a lot of empathy, he shows the depths of couple dances beyond 50, without making his divorced characters victims.
