Description

Julia and Thomas's marriage is over, but both are equally uninterested in the life of committed singles. With a mixture of courage, curiosity, and quiet despair, the two plunge once again into the adventure of looking for a partner in their "prime" age. It quickly becomes clear: it takes not only determination but above all perseverance, frustration tolerance, and a good dose of optimism. Their first attempt already turns into a disaster. As a mutual "safety net," they agree to meet their dates simultaneously in the same restaurant – a well-meant plan with catastrophic consequences. While Julia cannot even remotely develop sympathy for her self-absorbed counterpart, Thomas's companion causes maximum embarrassment with unfiltered insights into her unfulfilled desire to have children and surprisingly detailed knowledge about libido-enhancing foods. The evening spirals completely out of control and ends with both ex-partners fleeing hastily – much to the delight of the audience's laughter muscles. The further attempts to find new love in the jungle of dating apps also fail miserably. Julia's and Thomas's paths cross again and again at the most inopportune moments, causing even the most carefully planned appointments to collapse. It shows: separating peacefully and remaining friends afterward is much more complicated than it sounds – but at least together, one is less alone. Peter Quilter demonstrates his masterful sense of comedic timing in this farce. With sensitivity and British humor, he highlights the absurdities of modern courtship rituals beyond the age of 50, without ridiculing his characters.
