Description

In this course, you will learn how to record natural sounds and creatively process them further. You will receive a practical introduction to field recording as well as to designing your own soundscapes. On the first day, you will experiment with various recording devices and microphone types. In addition to classic stereo and mono microphones, underwater and contact microphones will also be used. This way, you will discover unfamiliar perspectives and surprising sound worlds. On the second day, the focus is on working with the recorded sounds. You will learn how to create your own soundscape compositions from individual recordings and how to creatively edit natural sounds. The course is primarily aimed at beginners but also offers new impulses for those with prior knowledge for creative work with sound. Course leader: Patricia Jäggi Number of participants: 10 to 16 persons Prerequisites: No special prior knowledge required. Bringing your own laptop for sound editing is advantageous. The free software Audacity can be installed in advance.
