Feast of Saint Wenceslas at Stekník Castle

On the state holiday of September 28, 2026 – the holiday of Czech statehood and St. Wenceslas, visitors will be introduced to the story of our patron saint during the interior tour on route No. 1. In the castle chapel, there is a depiction of him on a large baroque canvas by the prominent painter Ignác Raab (1715 -1787). Saint Wenceslas is depicted here with the Palladium of the Czech lands, which is traditionally attributed with special protective power over the Czech lands. It is a metal relief of the Madonna with child (19x13.5 cm) currently preserved in the Old Boleslav pilgrimage church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. According to legend, Saint Wenceslas received it from his grandmother, Saint Ludmila.
