His new teammates and study companions, with whom he shares the dorm, are initially a bit suspicious to him. But soon he befriends the impulsive Roper, the perpetually stoned Willoughby, the womanizer Nesbit, and the articulate Finn. Between baseball, wild parties, and girls like Beverly, whom Jake immediately falls for, studying can sometimes take a back seat."
