Relatives in focus: How to achieve genuine co-determination? 💙 When people with cognitive impairments are supported, different needs, perspectives, and roles come into contact. Those of the affected individuals themselves, their relatives, professionals, and institutions. But how can these perspectives be brought together? How can relatives be involved while simultaneously strengthening self-determination? And how do living spaces emerge where co-determination is actually practiced? These questions are addressed by the Ethics Conference 2026 of the Swiss Epilepsy Foundation on November 17 under the title: "Relatives in focus. How relatives, affected individuals, and institutions jointly shape living spaces where co-determination becomes possible." Together with affected individuals, experts from medicine, education, and social work, we examine the topic from different perspectives. In the end, the different perspectives, relatives, and experts come together in a panel discussion.
