Sometimes lively and full of wit, sometimes dreamy and poetic, sometimes almost like on the opera stage! Under the title "Esprit," the Nortada Quintet invites you on October 24th and 25th in Pfäffikon SZ and Wädenswil for a varied journey through different musical worlds. Rossini's temperamentful overture to "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" meets Christopher Ball's playful "Scenes from a Comedy" and the fine, shimmering sound colors of Debussy's "Petite Suite." At the end, the curtain opens for Mozart's "The Magic Flute." The arrangement by Takénori Némoto beautifully highlights the five different sound colors of flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon, making the well-known melodies shine anew. Since its founding in 2019, the Nortada Quintet has passionately dedicated itself to the fascination, versatility, and beauty of chamber music wind literature. The five musicians share a joy in making music together as well as the aim to vividly and distinctly express different sound worlds, eras, and musical characters. The focus of their concert activities is on programs that combine the familiar with the less familiar and create musical references across style and epoch boundaries. The Nortada Quintet utilizes the special timbre of the instrumentation with flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon — from transparent, delicate chamber music sound to almost orchestral fullness. In addition to their concert projects, the Nortada Quintet also develops their own formats for children and families. This educational work is part of the ensemble's self-understanding: to make classical music accessible directly, lively, and at a high musical level to a diverse audience.
