Thinking Further about Erich Fromm. Rainer Funk is the editor of Erich Fromm's works. The psychoanalyst from Tübingen was Erich Fromm's assistant when the book "Haben oder Sein" was created in Locarno, which this year marks the 50th anniversary of its publication. "Haben" stands for a life in which one becomes dependent: on possessions, people, qualities, tools, ideals, or values. "Sein" stands for creative action from one's own psycho-social forces. Those who want more and more foster discord: if we, like in the "Marketing-Character," depend on success and having, this influences our economic and social practices, as well as our dealings with ourselves and our neighbors. Fromm's socio-psychological insights also influence Funk's own thinking, with new works on the consequences of digitalization, pathologies of normality, and psychodynamics of current power and violence. During the discussion, musician Daniela Dolci will introduce the reactivated FRIEDENSZENTRUM BORGO, founded in 1968 in Trappeto (near Palermo/Sicily) by her father Danilo Dolci, who was known to Erich Fromm.
