Like most songs on the album, Powerless is a reaction to a present full of discouraging, dehumanizing headlines and societal upheavals – from climate catastrophes and genocide to the dismantling of democratic structures and fundamental rights. With These Killing Times, the Californian responds to feelings of despair and isolation and presents an alternative that centers on community, love, and resilience. This shift in perspective is also reflected in the new album: after the introspective and minimally instrumented predecessor Engine Of Hell, Rundle returns to a full band setup. Ticket prices
